Douglas D. 'Buzzy' Buskirk

Douglas D. ‘Buzzy’ Buskirk, age 64, of Jacksonville, IL formerly of Griggsville, IL passed away at his home on Saturday January 25, 2025.  He was born on April 8, 1960, in Quincy, IL to Richard and Wilma (Pindell) Buskirk.  He married Marla (Burns) on July 11, 2015, in Jacksonville, IL and she survives.

Doug graduated from Griggsville High School in 1978 and went on to work at the Pit Stop Auto Supply.  He then owned and operated Buzzy’s Radiator Shop.  Doug later worked in maintenance at Pittsfield Jiffi Stop and went on to work at the Bound to Stay Bound Book Bindery in Jacksonville, IL.  He finished his working career driving for the Schwann’s Company.  Doug was a member of the First Christian Church of Jacksonville, where he was very involved in bible studies and always volunteered for whatever was needed.  He was also a member of the Griggsville Masonic Lodge #45 AF & AM where he held the position of Master.   In his early years, Doug enjoyed going hunting, fishing and mushrooming.  He was a collector of matchbox cars and enjoyed yard sales and bringing his treasures home.  His family meant the world to him, and he always liked to torment his grandchildren.  Doug was instrumental in the restart of the Buskirk Family Reunion.  He was a bit onery with a dry sense of humor but was always loyal to his family and friends.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Marla of Jacksonville, IL; two daughters, Nichole (Josh) Fox, Leslie (Michael) Fleming all of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren Breanna Fox, Emma Fox, Leather Hill, Kale Hill, Zachary Fleming, Korbin Fleming, Wrigley Fleming, and Maelynne Fleming; one sister, Diana (John) Schnepf of Barry, IL; niece and nephew, Amanda Martin and J.J. (Jessie) Schnepf.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wilma Buskirk.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  A Masonic Service will take place at 6:00 PM conducted by the Griggsville Lodge #45, at Niebur Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM with a visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Interment will follow the service at Griggsville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Griggsville Masonic Lodge #45 or the Griggsville Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
