Doris 'Tootie' Foster Obituary

Doris ‘Tootie’ Foster, age 76, of Rockport, IL passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  She was born on December 30, 1945 in Louisiana, MO to Milton and Grace Grimsley Gwartney.  She married Kenneth Foster on March 20, 1982 in Pittsfield and he survives.

Tootie grew up and attended school in Rockport and later attended in Pittsfield.  She worked for Motorola in Quincy and later worked for Brown Shoe Company where she met Kenny and they got married.  Her true calling in life was being a mother and grandmother and she was a full time homemaker.  Tootie loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed mowing her yard, taking great pride in the way it looked.  She was very meticulous and a little possessive over it and her mower.  In earlier years, she played on softball leagues and coached Michelle’s team.  She also coon hunted with Bob and attended his sporting events.  Tootie and Kenny loved country music and liked going to concerts as well as riding around listening to country music.  She also enjoyed a cold Pepsi.  Tootie was strong willed and although she looked intimidating, she earned respect.  She loved her family very much and she will be missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Kenny Foster; son, Robert (Cara) McNulty of Baylis, IL; daughter, Michelle Smith of Pittsfield, IL; three grandchildren, Clint (Christina) McNulty of Kinderhook, IL, Jake (Sarah) McNulty of Baylis, IL, and Jayde Smith of Pittsfield, IL; three great grandchildren, Arabella McNulty, Alba McNulty, and Avanelle McNulty; brother, William ‘Poge’ Gwartney of Pittsfield, IL; sister, Vicki Miller of Rockport, IL; mother-in-law, Emma Foster of Barry, IL; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Jerry) Epley of Hull, IL, Becky (Kevin) Keithly of Hannibal, MO, Sharon (Jim) Beardsley of Hull, IL, and Evelyn (Bill) Coates of Jacksonville, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Grace Gwartney; son, Gary McNulty; two sisters, Gretta Ellison and Gloria Wells; brother, Lonnie ‘Son’ Gwartney; and father-in-law, Lee Foster.
