Doris J. (Megehe) Hoskins

Doris J. Hoskins, age 97, formally of Kinderhook, IL passed away at the Lake Stockton Nursing facility on Friday, November 15, 2024.  She was born on September 24, 1927, in New Canton, IL to Omer and Edna (Yelton) Megehe.  Doris married Robert J. Hoskins on June 1, 1946, in Quincy, IL and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2009. 

Doris grew up in New Canton and graduated from New Canton High School.  Doris worked as a bookkeeper for the West Pike School District for many years.   She was a member of the Kinderhook Baptist Church.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts and was an excellent cook.  In their retirement years Doris and Robert spent the winter months in Florida with Doris enjoying the southern climate, and the many friends they made. 

Doris is survived by her children, Reggie (Janet) Hoskins, Debbie Bricker, and Dwight (Christie) Hoskins; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother Phillip (Bonnie) Megehe; one sister Elizabeth (George) Davis; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, James Megehe, Ronald Megehe, Virgil Megehe, Polly Ogle, and Ruth McNett.  

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, IL at 11:00 AM.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the Kinderhook Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL is handling the arrangements.
