Donna Stauffer-Illgen Obituary

Donna Stauffer-Illgen, age 72, of Quincy, IL passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in her home. She was born on November 28, 1948 in Pittsfield, IL to Roy (Junior) and Dora Lee Main Stauffer. She married Walt Illgen on October 29, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV and he survives.

Donna was proud to be a part of the 1966 graduating class of Pittsfield High School. Although her family moved away shortly before her graduation, she always felt Pittsfield was her home. She enjoyed returning for her class reunions. After high school, Donna graduated from nursing school. She worked in many nursing capacities, but her greatest joy was working with the elderly in nursing homes and she spent her last year’s putting in countless hours and miles as a traveling hospice nurse. Donna worked as a nurse in Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Arizona and Nevada. Donna always enjoyed the annual 4th of July family time at the Lake of the Ozarks. Donna and Walt’s passion for travelling began on their European honeymoon. They also enjoyed trips to Key West, Miami, Florida and Hawaii. Donna’s true passion in life was her family and she loved spending time with them. She loved buying Bath & Body Works items for those she loved. She was a very generous and kind person. She enjoyed collecting dolls, Precious Moments figurines and Southwest decorative plates. Anyone who knew Donna will remember her funny sense of humor and ability to make people laugh at any moment. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Walt Illgen; sisters, Joan (Alan) Mays of Quincy, IL and Anita (Dan) Mefford of Pittsfield, IL; step son, Christopher Illgen of Tempe, AZ; niece, Andrea (Ken) Knapp of St. Louis, MO; nephews, Joe (Kelly) Mays of Quincy, IL, Carson (Mindy) Mefford of Pittsfield, IL and Kit Mefford of Pittsfield, IL; great nieces and nephews, Meredith Mays, Jack Mays, Clara Mays, Everly Mefford, Kollin Knapp and McKenzie Knapp; step-niece, Autumn Cullen of Lincoln, CA and step-nephew, Kody (Amy) Mefford of Monmouth, IL; aunts, Marjorie Gamble and Imogene Main; and numerous cousins also survive.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Roy J. and Dora Lee Stauffer; her son, Mathew in infancy; her grandparents, Roy and Lula M. Stauffer and Clyde and Helen G. Main; aunts and uncle, Mary Emma Kurfman, twins, Geraldine Hill and Gerald Main and Erma Bethard; and twins in infancy of Dan and Anita Mefford.
