Donetta Jean Castleberry

Donetta (Donna) Jean Castleberry, age 55 of Springfield, IL and formerly of Milton, IL joined her heavenly father on Friday April 3, 2026. Donetta was born on December 15, 1970, in Jacksonville, Illinois to Donald Castleberry, Sr. and Mary Jean Sanders Castleberry. Donetta was later adopted by Don Sr. and Kathy Castleberry.

Her careers were vast in leadership where she thrived and formed friendships that lasted until the end. She enjoyed reading, trivia, music, and true crime shows. She loved her dogs Bella and Max, loved spending time with them, family and friends, and especially the kids and her fur niece Sadie. She loved visiting with her neighbors, who held a dear place in her heart, Becky, Pat, Matt. Laura, Rose and Mason Williams. Donetta was always a phone call away to those she called family and friends. She loved cooking for anyone. Donetta was a prayerful person who always sought God and found kind words to say to all. She served in Uturn Ministries, (until it’s closing) a ministry for the displaced that was under the leadership of the Pawnee Assembly of God. She also loved her Radiant church family. She had a huge heart, always looking for opportunities to give and serve all she knew often at her own expense. Never looking for credit or acknowledgement. 

She is survived by her chosen family Linda Schroeder, Scott Schroeder, Jennifer Carlisle, and Juanita Schroeder all of Springfield; father, Donald Castleberry, Sr.; siblings, Rev. Donald (Annette) Castleberry, Jr. of Pittsfield, Dianna Castleberry of Springfield, Delissa (Shane) Jones of Alton, Deanna (Chris) Allen Witt of Havana, Jasmine (Terrance) Baker of Jacksonville, Tiffany Castleberry of Pleasant Hill and Donald Paul Castleberry of Moline; nieces and nephews, Faith, Zeke, Harrison, Micheal, David, Sydnee, Harley, Jaxson, and Tyrus; the grandchildren she always prayed for Micah, Ariyah, Makayla, and Aire'ana; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that meant so much to her. As well as many others who graced her home...you know who you are, she loved you all.

She was preceded in death by her mothers, Mary Jean Sanders and Paula Kathleen Castleberry; grandparents, Frank and Della Sanders, Junior and Zelma Bess, Russell Castleberry, and Margie (Pug) Schroeder; aunt, Patty Goode; uncles, Ronnie Castleberry and Billy Castleberry; niece, Kaitlyn Jones; as well as several aunts and uncles on her mother’s side.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday April 17, 2026, at Radiant Church, 3200 Shaler Road, Springfield, Illinois. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
