Donald Boone Elledge, age 86, of Perry, IL passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born July 23, 1937, in Valley City, IL to Tolbert Rex and Goldia Mae Dryden Elledge, Sr. Donald first married Mary Louise Beard and to this union his children were born; he married Linda Nave November 9, 1996, and she preceded him in death December 20, 2018.
In his early years, Donald started school in Griggsville, then attended Brower Country School and later Perry High School Class of 1956 where he enjoyed participating in sports. Donald was a lifelong carpenter who loved woodworking and blessed the Perry community with projects such as pouring sidewalks, repairing roofs and helping folks with their ‘handy man’ chores. He enjoyed antiques, was an avid marble and coin collector, and was passionate about metal detecting. Donald played golf and pool and liked watching old westerns and Wheel of Fortune on tv. He spent countless hours outdoors picking up pecans and cleaning them to gift to family and friends. Donald was a member of Perry United Methodist Church, Moose member and recipient of 2009 Perry Pioneer Days Honored Citizens Award. He was always ready and available to help friends and neighbors and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Donald is survived by sons, Rocklin (Peggy) Elledge of Griggsville, IL, Rex Elledge of Perry, IL and Ryan Elledge of Pana, IL; daughters, Roxann (Brian) Risley and Reca (Kevin) Risley, both of rural Perry, IL; grandchildren, Rachel (Zach) Rode, Gavin (Lisa) Risley, Lance (Gayla) Risley, Haylee (Jeremy) Priest, Wyatt (Kasey) Risley, Boone Elledge, Dillon Elledge, Jeremy Elledge, Charity (Michael) Ingerman and Ethan Elledge; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Jackie Orr of Perry, IL, Janie (Ron) Stinebaker of rural Perry, IL and ½ sister, Joy Goodall of Tulsa, OK; several nieces and nephews; step-children, Sara (Tom) Luptowski and T.W. Nave; and step-grandchildren, Donnie, Amanda, Jaden and Tyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tolbert and Goldia Elledge, Sr.; wife, Linda Elledge; brothers, Little Jack, Joe, Billie and Toby Elledge; and sister, Dee Lipcaman.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Wilson Cemetery in Perry, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Perry United Methodist Church.
