David W. Piper, age 67, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, IL. He was born April 27, 1955, in Pittsfield, IL to Wayne and Iris Bruce Piper. David married Lori Raps and she survives.
David graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1973. During those years David was one of the original members to paint the Saukee Indian head that is displayed in the gymnasium. He was very artistic and had beautiful handwriting. He was a painter of signs and truck doors before there was computer printing. David worked several years for the Arch Wilson, Inc Men’s Clothing Store and travelled all over the United States as a buyer. In later years he became a handyman for his neighborhood. When he was younger, he was an avid golfer and gave golf lessons. David was a very giving man with a huge heart. He was a people person, liked to joke and make people laugh. David was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and he was very proud of his Catholic faith.
David is survived by brothers, Tom (Judy) Piper, Danny (Joyce) Piper, Richard Piper, Mark (Cindy) Piper and Mike Piper; sisters, Peggy Piper, Rita (George) Perkins and Patty (Paul) Ruble; and sister-in-law, Neta Lennon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Iris Piper; and brother, Tony Piper.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services held. Memorials are suggested to be made to Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
