David King Obituary

David Walter King, age 77 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born July 14, 1948, in Carrollton, IL to Max and Kathrine Johnessee King. David married R. Florence Wanick January 4, 1969, in Pearl, IL and she survives.

David attended school in Eldred and Carrollton and later enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge in November 1970. David first worked at Alton Owen Molthese Winchester Company, then went to work for Oscar Meyer in 1968 for 19 ½ years, and later became a farmhand for David Borrowman for 26 years. He dearly loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. David was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He often enjoyed a good nap and will be fondly remembered by his loving wife, Flo as the love of her life and she couldn’t have found a better man.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence King; son, Brad (Tisha) King of Louisiana, MO; daughter, Yvonne (Chris) Fulmer of Pearl, IL; grandchildren, Andriana Goewey, Alex Fulmer, Adam (Hannah) Fulmer, Elan King, Alan King, Zac Perrine, and Riley Perrine; great grandchildren, Karsyn Perrine and Madilyn Perrine; brother, Raydean King; in-laws, Mary Buchanan, Ralph Wanick, Charlie Wanick, and Phil Williams; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Max and Kathrine King; two babies in infancy; in-laws, William and Sarah Wanick; sisters-in-law, Rose Chiatello-Witt and Billy Williams; brothers-in-law, Alfred Lee Wanick, Junior Wanick, and John (Vickey) Wanick; and niece, Shanda King.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to Miller Cemetery in Pearl, IL. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
