David Coultas Jr. Obituary

David E. Coultas, Jr., age 45, of Hull, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his home. He was born on March 22, 1978, in Quincy, IL to David E. and Janet Harrison Coultas, Sr. David married Michelle M. Uphold on February 11, 2023, and she survives.

David graduated from West Pike High School in 1996. He then attended John Wood Community College. During that time, he found his passion for driving. Later he decided to switch careers with Walter Lewis Fluid Technologies where he worked for over 10 years ultimately becoming plant manager. His coworkers would often refer to him as ‘Safety Dave’ as he kept everyone out of harm’s way. In his free time, he could be found outdoors, especially during hunting season. He was a passionate deer hunter, specifically with a bow. So much so that he was called the ‘Deer Slayer’. While he loved hunting, he would often join our area youth on hunts explaining the importance of firearm and hunting safety. When he wasn’t hunting you could find him with friends and family enjoying a cookout and friendly game of Bags or pool in the winter. Dave was a strong-willed individual seasoned in sarcasm, who was known for his determination and intelligence. A few close friends would call him Eugenius. But he was mostly known for his kind demeanor with the ability to help anyone at a moment’s notice.

David is survived by his mother, Janet of rural Hull; wife, Michelle of Hull; children, Max and Milee Flowers; one brother, Austin (Emily) Coultas of Quincy, IL; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and close friends whom are considered family, Kevin and Helene Fricke. He was preceded in death by his father, David E. Coultas Sr.

Per David’s wishes cremation rights have been accorded. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials suggested to the "Max and Milee Education Fund". Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL is handling the arrangements.
