Darlene R. (Underwood) Eaton

Darlene Eaton, age 67 of Barry, IL passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Barry Healthcare & Senior Living in Barry, IL. She was born June 7, 1958, in Cortland, NY to Douglas Pomerow Underwood and Marlene Rose Shepard.

Darlene grew up in upstate New York and finished her schooling in Pittsfield. Over the years, she worked at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and also ran ‘The Dinner Bell’ restaurant in New Canton. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, gardening, and reading. Darlene had a special heart for caring for the elderly; she was always happy to listen to their stories, loved to cook and clean for them, and made sure they were eating and drinking enough.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Brandy Vigari; grandchildren, Christopher Garibay (Lexis Waggoner), Alexys Jacobs, Ava, and Addison (Addi) Garibay; two great grandchildren Rishye Jones and Xaviani Jones; and devoted and dear friends, David and Charlotte Hamilton, John Hamilton, Linda Houseweart, Barb Brown, Bob Brown, and her Nazarene church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Marlene Underwood.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and services will be held privately. Memorials are suggested to be made to Barry Healthcare & Senior Living Activity Fund. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
