Daphne D. (Hamilton) Brawner

Daphne Diane Hamilton Brawner, age 76, of Pittsfield, IL and formally of Greenview, IL passed away Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family and friends at her home. Daphne was the daughter of Jacklyn Yates Hamilton born in Springfield, IL, born on April 4th, 1947.

She was a graduate of Lanphier High School and went on to Western Illinois University graduating with a BS in Art Education. Upon graduating she became the K-12 Art Teacher for Greenview School District where she was for almost 30 years before retiring. During her time at Greenview, she completed her Masters in English through Western Illinois University and after that completion Daphne picked up teaching 7th grade English along with her teaching art at the district. After retirement she began volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield IL which led her to becoming an Activity Director for the After School and Saturday programs for about 10 years. Daphne was skilled in making dry silk flower arrangements and sold them for many years at craft shows and fairs. However, her greatest accomplishment that she held dear to her heart was weddings when her dry silk flowers were gaining notoriety, she would be asked to bring flowers together with her talent to give couples a part of their day they will always remember.

Daphne, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend is survived by her daughter Shannon Lowry, husband Steve of Pittsfield IL; a son Derek Brawner, wife Melissa of Springfield IL; five grandchildren, Alexandria, Taylor and Savannah Lowry all of Pittsfield IL, Hunter and Samantha Blattel both of Springfield IL; and a dear family friend Pam Baxter of Pittsfield IL.

Daphne was preceded in death by her mother, Jacklyn Yates Hamilton.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield IL from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM for friends and to all those who want to celebrate her life. Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Springfield IL at 11:00 AM. Memorials are suggested to be made to Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
