Danny L. Guthrie

Danny L. Guthrie, age 77, of Pearl, IL passed away at his home Saturday, December 30, 2023. He was born July 13, 1946, in Pearl, IL to Lowell and Sylvina Tipsword Guthrie. Danny married Mary Kern December 23, 1972, in Peoria, IL and she survives.

Danny grew up in Pearl and attended school in Pearl. He joined the United States Navy working as a Naval Training Officer for six years and served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge he worked as a machine operator for Caterpillar Inc. He moved back home to Pearl after his retirement and served as a trustee for the Village of Pearl. Danny loved hunting deer and fishing, enjoyed gardening and would share his crops with friends and family. He was a great storyteller and loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Danny was a caring man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Danny is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Guthrie of Pearl, IL; daughters, Mistie Morgan of Pearl, IL and Lawindy (Drew Mooberry) Guthrie of Chilicothe, IL; grandchildren, Nicole (Tony) Whirrell and Samantha (Justin) Estima; great grandchildren, A.J., Daniel, Eli, Mia, Hope and one on the way; sisters, Phyllis Cotton, Wanda Stover and Joyce Smith; and special sister-in-law, Tina (Rick) Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Sylvina Guthrie; great granddaughter, Morgan; brothers, Ronald, Leon and Kenny; sister in infancy, JoAnn; and sister-in-law, Sherry Reed.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services held at this time. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
