Daniel Blacketer Obituary

Daniel Irvin Blacketer, age 70 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Mercy Memorial Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was the third son born September 13, 1955, in Pittsfield, IL to Carl H. and Marjorie Grimsley Blacketer. He was named Daniel by his only sister, Thelma after hearing the story of Daniel in the lion’s den in Sunday School.

Daniel attended grade school in Summer Hill and then Pittsfield for jr. high and high school. He later attended truck driving school in Nebraska and was employed by several different companies where he was a well-respected and successful transporter. He enjoyed working on the farm and helping area farmers during harvest. Daniel married Cathy Epley and to this union, their son Justin was born. Justin was a gift from God and was very important in his dad’s life. 

Daniel is survived by son, Justin (Sarah) Blacketer of Payson, IL; brothers, James (Darlene) Blacketer and Preston Blacketer; sister, Thelma McGraw; sister-in-law, Wanda Blacketer; three aunts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl H. and Marjorie Blacketer; brother, Carl S. Blacketer; and brother-in-law, Jack McGraw.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
