Dallas O. Patterson, age 93 of Barry, IL passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Barry Healthcare and Senior Living in Barry, IL. He was born to Herbert O. Patterson and Edna M. Smith Patterson on July 6, 1929 in Hadley Township, IL. Dallas first married Mary Louise Miller, May 31, 1952 and they had six children together. She preceded him in death on November 28, 1997. He later married Patricia A. (Gasko) Hoskins on April 17, 1999, and she survives.
Dallas graduated from Barry High School and went on to farm most of his life. He worked for Moormans from 1958 to 1970 and also sold PAG Seed. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from February 1952 to November 1953 when he was honorably discharged.
Dallas was a member of the Barry United Methodist church and was the Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was also involved in the adult Bible study and stayed active in church into his 90’s. He loved to golf, achieving two holes in one- one at the KC golf course in Quincy, IL and the other at the Barry Golf course at hole #9. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and doing word search puzzles. He was a past member of the Barry American Legion and the Adams Co. Farm Bureau. He was a hardworking man whom most of all loved his family and the times they could spend together.
He is survived by; his wife, Patricia Patterson; children, Joyce (Thomas) Losch of Quincy, IL., Dallas Bruce (Michelle) Patterson of Wichita, KS, Kathy (Steven) Gerecke of Liberty, IL, Linda Patterson of Pittsfield, IL, David Patterson of Payson, IL, and Gary (Heather) Patterson of Hannibal, MO; grandchildren, Rebecca (Grant) Wilson of West Des Moines, IA, Brianne (Matt) Sealock of Pittsfield, IL , Andrew (Katie) Gerecke of Clayton, IL, Rachel Gerecke of Pittsfield, IL, and step grandchild, Haven Bloodgood of Wellington, Tx; step children, Mark (Gayle) Hoskins of Barry, IL, Charles T. (Sue) Hoskins of Waterford, WI, and Jeffery M. (Laurie) Hoskins of Pleasant Prairie, WI.; 10 step grandchildren; and 8 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Edna Patterson; first wife, Mary Lou; brother and sister in law, Donald and Marjorie Patterson, sister and brother in law, Marilyn and Raymond Dunn; sister, Carmen Furniss; and great grandson, Tyler Sealock.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. A military service will be conducted by the US Army Honor Guard and the Barry American Legion #222 at the gravesite. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery.
