Clarence Lain

Clarence Lain, age 93, of Pawnee, IL, formerly of Barry, IL, passed away August 7, 2025 at his home. He was born in Barry, IL, on February 25, 1932, to William R. and Grace (Curtis) Lain.  He married Ruby Rice, on September 10, 1971 in Hull, IL, and she survives.

After school, Clarence joined the United States Air Force. He was enlisted for over 20 years as an air craft mechanic. When he retired from the military, he went to work for the airport in Springfield, IL. He later went to work for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO and in his time there, was sent to Saudi Arabia for two years to maintain aircraft.

He enjoyed travelling and seeing the world when he could but took great pleasure in resting from a hard day’s labor. 

Clarence is survived by; wife, Ruby Lain; daughters, Debbie Lain, and Tammy Lain, both of Witchita Falls, TX; sister, Julie Allensworth of Pittsfield, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by; his parents; brothers, Virgil, Glen, and William; and sister, Sue Lipcamon.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 13 at 12:00 pm at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Interment following service at Kinderhook Cemetery in Kinderhook, IL with military honors accorded.  Memorials are suggested to Kinderhook Cemetery.  Condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Arrangements by Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry IL.
