Cheryl Louise Horton, aged 76, of Jacksonville, IL.,  passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. Cheryl Louise Horton, aged 76, of Jacksonville, IL.,  passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born February 6, 1946, to John David Harrison and Cleo Arvela (Belts) Harrison, in Hannibal, MO.  Cheryl married Otis Horton on October 1, 1960, at Rockport Christian Church and he preceded her in death

Cheryl was a Christian woman who grew up in New Canton, IL. She married early in life and started her family.  During her employment time, she worked as a manager at Bekin's Moving Company. Additionally, she did book work for her son, Greg Horton, with different resorts.  They also enjoyed their time at Greg's Java Who coffee shop in Quincy, IL.  She later worked as a Home Health Care provider.

Cheryl loved her koi pond, and watching the birds that visited her bird feeders. She was an avid online shopper and collected carousel horses and cookbooks.  She was a great cook and was known for her popcorn balls at Halloween that even adults came to her door for! Her love language was gifting her family at Christmas time and always tried to make it extra special for them. She was known as a competitive fisherman and it didn’t matter if you were a grandchild or not, she was trying to beat you. Cheryl was also known for playing Facebook Gaming. She was compassionate, loving, motherly, strong and stubborn. Most of all, she loved and cherished her family, and always reminded them that she loved them “To the moon and back”.

She is survived by her companion of 14 years, Richard Batterton; daughter, Kimberley (Todd) Doyle, of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Ashley Horton of Jacksonville, IL, Lindsey Horton of Palmyra, MO, Jayme Horton of Barry, IL, Georgia (Zak) Allen of Virden, IL, and Justice (Graham) Shipley of Cangas, Spain; great grandchildren, Grace Jensen-Page, Vanessa Allen, Tyler Rouse, Raylee Young, Layne Davis, Lainey Rouse, Jay Rouse, Lexi Rouse, Finley Young, and Killian Allen; and daughter-in-law, Jeana Foster-Horton.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, John and Cleo Harrison; her husband, Otis Horton; two sons, Jay Horton and Greg Horton; and grandchild Lindy Horton.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at New Canton Community of Christ Church in New Canton, IL with visitation preceding from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.  Interment to follow services at Samuel Taylor Cemetery in Rockport, IL.  Memorials are suggested to the family, c/o Niebur Funeral Chapel.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL is handling the arrangements.
