Charline M. Smith, age 70, of Hull, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at Barry Healthcare & Senior Living in Barry, IL. She was born September 10, 1955 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to Robert Cooper and Rose (Jeffers) Watkins. She married Kevin Smith on July 4, 1986 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Hannibal, MO.
Charline graduated from Plato High School in Plato, MO, next obtained her LPN license and began her nursing career in the early 1980s. She was employed by a nursing home in Licking, MO, next for a doctor’s office in Houston, MO, and later worked for the Quincy Veterans Home, the Barry Nursing Home and provided in-home care for several area families. Charline found her passion in the in-home care field. She surrendered her life to Jesus and trusted in His payment for her sins. Charline followed Jesus and challenged others to trust Him too. Her Bible is well worn and heavily used. She attended worship at The Crossing. Charline liked riding in the semi with Kevin and was always ready to go somewhere with any of her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and their activities or just visiting with them. She was a Kansas City Chiefs fan and liked Patrick Mahomes. She will be remembered as hardworking, determined, protective, honest and loved by her family.
She is survived by her children, Heath (Jamie) Hall of Hull, IL, Eric (Tiffany) Hall of Corydon, IN, April (Micah) Gingerich of Nashville, TN, and Autumn Smith, Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Savannah (Keaton) Harris, Jackson Hall, Boston Hall, Bronx Hall, Calvin Hall, Athan Hall, Quinn Hall and Caedmon Hall; brothers, Jim Cooper, Bill Cooper, Chipper Cooper, and Mike Cooper; sisters, Connie Cook, Wanda Watkins, and Vickie Watkins; and several nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Cooper; mother & step-father, Rose & Dewey Watkins; a sister, Angie Watkins; and a niece, Brittany Cook.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Shearer Cemetery, New Canton, IL. Memorials are suggested to Hull of a Race. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL is handling the arrangements.
