Charles 'Joey' Joseph Calvey

Charles Joseph ‘Joey’ Calvey, age 53, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024, at his home. Joey was born September 24, 1971, in Pittsfield, IL to David A. and Lois E. Smith Calvey. Joey married Cecily Scranton and to this union two children born.

Joey was a 1989 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He joined the United States Army and served his country from 1989 to 1992 as a Senior Gunner on a Vulcan Tank in Operation Desert Storm. Joey was a 24-year member of El Dara Masonic Lodge #388 A.F. & A.M. Joey owned and operated Calvey’s Computer Service and was highly skilled with computers. He was an avid gamer who enjoyed shooting guns and collecting knives. Joey was politically minded and was always ready to share his knowledge and fact check others. He adored his grandkids and loved his dog, Purple. Joey could be sarcastic at times and always brutally honest but was a loyal and devoted friend to those who knew him well.

Joey is survived by his mother, Lois Calvey of Pittsfield, IL; children, David (Maggie) Calvey and Cora (Blake Pulis) Calvey; grandchildren, Charlie Calvey and Xavier Calvey; sister, Jacque (Marc) Lumley; nephews, Preston Lumley and Logan Lumley; best friend, Cecily Scranton Calvey; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends, near and far.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Calvey; grandparents, Don and Coralee Calvey and Raymond and Shirley Smith; and cousin, Amy Hord.

Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services held. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
