Charles 'Chris' Edward Cunningham

Charles Edward ‘Chris’ Cunningham, age 58, of Pittsfield, IL passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, after a long-fought illness. Charles was born January 18, 1968, in Louisiana, MO to Henry Taylor Cunningham and a member of the Patton family. He married his first wife, Cathryn ‘Cat’ Cunningham where they shared a daughter Neechol Cunningham. He remained married to Cathryn until her and Neechol’s passing in 1989. Charles then moved to California shortly after where he met his best friend and partner for life, Rosenda M. Alcazar. They wed October 15, 1993, and he gained a daughter, Ana and later his youngest daughter, Rebecca in 1995.

Charles worked for many years as a cosmetologist, CNA, and CMA. He also worked for Cingular Wireless starting out as a representative in Atwater, CA and then moved on to Floor Manager in the Lafayette, LA call center. He had many passions in life including cooking, reading, grilling, being a grandpa, and he also enjoyed being sassy and making everyone laugh but most of all spending time with his family. He finally got to move home to Pittsfield in 2016 where he continued to love life and every moment he got to spend with his loved ones. He fought a long hard battle but he did it for his friends and family. He always looked forward to spending time with his grand dogs, Jax, Beau, Ace, Frank, and Gage.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Becca (Jake) Vera of Pittsfield, IL and Ana (Robert) Divine of Atwater, CA; sons, Scot Twilleager of Pittsfield, IL and Christian Martinez of Sacramento, CA; and granddaughters, Kainsley and Kenadee Divine. He is also survived by Diana Twilleager, Sarah Twilleager, Dorothy Santillian, Carol Burrows, Kenzie, Kaitlyn, and Tobi. His family of the heart, Shawna (Jeff) Joseph, Robert Anthony da Cozta, Amanda Powers, and many more he loved and cared for over the years. He is also survived by his family that he returned home to in 2016, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Rosenda ‘Rose’ Cunningham; granddaughter, Aspen Vera who in his words is very happy to finally hold his angel; father, Henry Taylor Cunningham; sister, Sharon Kay Cunningham; uncles, Jack Patton and Johnnie Bill Collins; aunts, Stacey Niffen and Pat Collins; and cousins, Pamela Bell and Beth Baskett.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2026, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
