Carrie Reed, age 68 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO. She was born November 14, 1957, in Pittsfield, IL to Garold T. and Doris Ilene Dunaven Elledge. Carrie married John Reed, and to this union her children were born.
Carrie grew up in Nebo, IL attending Nebo schools and was a 1975 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years before entering the workforce. Carrie worked at the Feed Store in Milton, Ghrist Vet Clinic, Pizza Hut, was a lab tech at Pike Pig Systems, and J.M. Huber until her retirement. She then worked at Dari Ripple serving up everyone’s favorite treats. Carrie loved motorcycles and began riding when she was of age and continued this passion for many years. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church helping with church camp, working with youth girl’s group at church, taking the youth to concerts, and will be remembered for her joyful worshiping! Carrie was an avid animal lover who enjoyed grooming animals, and she loved attending Bob Seger concerts where she would relish singing and dancing in the crowd. Carrie was a loving and devoted mom, daughter, grandmother, and sister. Above all else, her greatest accomplishment was her family, she took delight and pride in her children and grandchildren and could always be counted on to show up to their various activities. She will be fondly remembered by all as crazy, fun, and loving Grandma Carrie.
Carrie is survived by loving children, John Travis Reed of Kansas City, MO, Aaron (Ashley) Reed of Prairie Village, KS, Jenna (Derek) Yelliott of New Salem, IL, and Drew (Sierra) Reed of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Trenton Reed, Vance Reed, Rylee Reed, Madison Reed, Gavon Reed, Lane Yelliott, Kelsey Yelliott, Lucas Yelliott, Ana Reed, Riley Chappell, Jeffery Chappell, Devonte Doil, and Macy Doil; sister, Rhonda (Dick) Houchins; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garold and Ilene Elledge; brother, Dale Elledge; and great-nephew, Roman Bushmeyer.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, March 9, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church. Memorials are suggested to be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
