Carolyn Sue Crater, age 82, of Winchester, IL passed away Monday, April 27, 2026. She was born March 30, 1944, in Alton, IL to Lafe R. and Faye Waggoner Ramsey. Carolyn married Donald Crater June 3, 1962, in Springfield, IL and he survives.
Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of East Pike High School and then married the love of her life, Don. She was a cherished and devoted minister’s wife for 27 years. Carolyn was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother most of her life. Her family was her greatest joy and she was an excellent cook, talented seamstress and quilter, and was very creative. She will be remembered by all as a loving mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God.
Carolyn is survived by loving husband of nearly 64 years, Donald Crater; daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Weger of Jacksonville, IL, Donita (Ed) Greening of Pittsfield, IL, and Leah (Michael) Barber of Dunlap, IL; son, Luke (Laura) Crater of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Carrie Greening, Ben Weger, Silas (Megan) Greening, Meredith (Connor) Lane, Peter Greening, Amelia (fiancé, Matthew) Barber, Lucy Barber, Will Weger, Jacob Crater, and Adelyn Crater; great grandchildren, Tessa Greening, Sam Greening, James Greening, and Logan Greening; siblings, Dick (Billie) Ramsey, Jean (Tim) Cowan, Rick Ramsey, Rex (Jeana) Ramsey, Joyce (Ed) Dodson, and Randy Ramsey; and sister-in-law, Judy Schlieper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lafe and Faye Ramsey; brother, Bob Ramsey; and sister, Glenna Uram.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 1, 2026, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Myanmar Hope Christian Mission.
