Carol J. (Wright) Beck

Carol J. Beck, age 88, of Barry, IL passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2023, at Barry Healthcare and Senior Living in Barry, IL. She was born August 28, 1934, in Naperville, IL to Harry S. and Mary Iftner Wright. Carol married Terry E. Beck October 16, 1965, and he preceded her in death February 12, 2019.

Carol graduated from Naperville High School Class of 1952 and then went on to Nurses Training where she became a registered nurse and received her bachelor’s degree. She worked as an RN at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL and then did private duty home care for several years. She was a member of Evangelical Free Church in Naperville and after moving to Pike County she became a dedicated member of Pittsfield Calvary Baptist Church, active with the mission and prayer teams. Carol loved Jesus and His church and dearly loved hosting family gatherings. She and Terry worked diligently in their garden with him planting and she would can and freeze the bountiful harvest. Carol belonged to TOPS for many years and enjoyed annual family reunions of which she attended 86 of the 88 years. She was a strong, kind and gracious woman who never complained and will be remembered as faithful and humble by all who knew her.

Carol is survived by two sons, Carl (Caryn) Schultz of Aurora, IL and Roger Schultz of St. Charles; two daughters, Kerry (Rex) Range of Springfield, IL and Cathy (Brent) Strukely of Springfield, IL; daughters-in-law, Fran Schultz of Montgomery, IL and Michelle Beck of Aurora, IL; stepdaughter, Kim (Michael) Davenport of Pennsylvania; twenty seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Marge) Wright of Sandwich, IL; sister, Marilyn (Bill) Whitman of Hot Springs Village, AR; sisters-in-law, Helen Wright of Griggsville, IL and Bonnie (Jim) Palmer of Oswego, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry S. and Mary E. Wright; husband of 53 years, Terry E. Beck; two sons, Richard Schultz and Glenn Beck; stepdaughter, Cindy Beck; sister, Georgia (Ron) Scherer; brother, Harry Wright, Jr.; and son-in-law, David Armogida.

Funeral service will be held Monday, June 5, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield. Memorials are suggested to be made to Irick-Scherer Reunion Fund or Calvary Baptist Church.
