Carla Flies, age 73, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born January 25, 1953, in Sparta, IL to Donald and Wanda Lee Miller Snyder.
Carla was a graduate of Pittsfield High School Class of 1971. After graduation, she owned a restaurant in Southern Illinois and later became a CNA working at the hospital and area nursing homes. Carla enjoyed painting wood crafts with her parents and selling their goods at local festivals. She was an avid reader, collected costume jewelry, enjoyed working with her flowers and plants, and enjoyed spending time with her dogs, Sophie, Chloe, and Riley. She could be a bit hard-headed, stubborn, opinionated, and independent but dearly loved her family and always enjoyed time spent with them at family functions.
Carla is survived by her father, Donald Snyder; son, Donnie (Morgan Windmiller) Flies of Bowling Green, MO; brothers, Larry (Kay) Snyder of Pittsfield, IL and Donnie (Dawn) Snyder of Ft. Myer, FL; sister, Sandy (Henry Foster) Voytas of Highland, IL; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Lee Snyder.
