Carl L. Hoos, age 68, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his home. He was born April 6, 1956, in Pittsfield, IL to Edward and Rena Wackerman Hoos.
Carl was a 1974 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a farmer who worked alongside his dad on the family farm for many years and as a young man he was the head of many hay crews. Carl also spent time working construction over the years. Carl was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed spending time hunting shed antlers. He loved spending time at the truck stop and Jiffi Stop in Barry visiting with friends and trying his luck at the gambling machines. Carl was head strong, hard-working man who was full of laughs and will be missed by friends and family.
Carl is survived by his sister, Evelyn (Jim) Griffeth of Pittsfield, IL; brothers, John Hoos of Griggsville, IL and George (Loretta) Hoos of Pittsfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rena Hoos.
Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
