Brenda Ottwell

Brenda Jane Ottwell of Pittsfield passed away peacefully at her home on April 9th, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Pittsfield on April 1st, 1958, the daughter of Edward Guy Howland and Shirley Joean Bauser. On April 22, 1978, she married David Ross Ottwell with Bro. John Ruzich officiating the ceremony at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene.

After graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1976, Brenda worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Pittsfield, but after her marriage to David, and the birth of her children, she was solely devoted to her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She never missed an event or gathering until her health prevented her.  She greatly enjoyed thrift store shopping alone or with her daughter and kept everyone, especially the babies, well clothed and supplied with toys. She was a member of Milton Christian Church where she served the church in a variety of ways including church secretary for over a decade. After retiring together in 2015, Brenda and David enjoyed several years of retirement and traveled with friends on multiple occasions prior to her cancer diagnosis.  She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that deeply impacted those around her.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years David, her mother Joean Schlieper of Pittsfield, three children Joshua (Lauren) Ottwell of Milton, Joseph Ottwell of Pittsfield, and Natalie (Nick) Williams of Milton. six grandsons Augustus, Gabriel and Jay Williams, Franklin, James and Alfred Ottwell and one granddaughter Arwen Williams. Brother Dale (Jeanette) Howland.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Edward Howland, stepfather Cecil Schlieper and in-laws Loren and Faye Ottwell.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, at Milton Christian Church in Milton. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4 to 6pm at Niebur Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Greenpond Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Milton Christian Church. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
