Brenda S. (Roberts) Howard

Brenda S. Howard, age 68 of Baylis, IL passed away Friday, November 21, 2025, at her home. She was born January 30, 1957, in Pittsfield, IL to Fred and Marjorie (Eckelberger) Roberts. Brenda married Jimmy Howard November 9, 1991, in Pittsfield, IL and he preceded her in death September 2, 2012.

Brenda lived her entire life in Pike County and always considered Baylis her home. She was never blessed with children of her own, but she treated her nieces and nephews and their children as her own and was like a grandmother to them. They lovingly referred to her as ‘Aunt Bim’ and she was always there to cheer them up, celebrate their victories, give a loving hug, heal a broken heart, and feed them when they wouldn’t eat for their parents. Brenda’s passions in life were God, Jimmy, her family and friends, and her beloved animals. Her dogs were her babies, and she also loved the squirrels that would frequent her yard. Brenda and Jimmy enjoyed deer hunting together, she was an avid reader, loved taking rides with Cindy, and spending time with her great great grandson, Keegan. Her legacy will be kept alive by her family who will continue the values she taught them through strength, unconditional love, and caring for one another.   

Brenda is survived by sisters, Ruby Duke, Lynda (Ricardo) Contreras, and Freda (Vern) Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews, Brady Duke, Shelby Duke, Zach Schwalb, Craig ‘CJ’ Schwalb, Gabby Conkright, Shawn Malone, Chelsea Verticchio, Martin (Alexis) Grisham, Michael Grisham, Makayla Grisham, and Andy (Danielle) Teaney; and great great nieces and great great nephews, Keegan Grisham, Keizer Grisham, Baylie Teaney, Bentley Teaney, Brayden Teaney, Brooklyn Teaney, Kaynan Schwalb, and Waylon Malone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Howard; parents, Fred and Marjorie Roberts; sisters, Mary (Paul) Clendenny, Hazel (Robert) Ghrist, Juanita (Herb) Griffin, Margaret Jean in infancy, and Minnie (Bill) Booker; and brothers-in-law, Larry Duke and Craig Schwalb.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 1, 2025, at Baylis Cemetery in Baylis, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
