Bonita Saxbury, age 84 of Center, Missouri, and formerly of Hull, Illinois, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Barry Healthcare and Senior Living in Barry, Illinois. She was born October 1, 1941, in Barry, Illinois, to Ben W. and Alma (Blacketer) Saxbury.
Bonita was baptized as a Baptist in the Mississippi River. She graduated from Barry High School. Bonita moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a clerical worker for several businesses and did clerical work for the Federal Government in Cedar Rapids. Later she moved to Tucson, Arizona, and continued working for the Federal Government, then back to Scott Air Force Base where she retired.
Bonita loved flowers and planting each Spring. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She just loved everything about Christmas. She was a dog lover and loved to go on rides to see the wildlife. Bonita was a warm and loving person and loved to visit with her niece, Dawn.
Survivors include her companion, Jim Couch, of 7 years; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ben J. Saxbury, Tom Saxbury, and Richard Saxbury; and sisters, Ruth Colvin and Phyllis Shatzer.
Graveside Service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Shearer Cemetery, New Canton, Illinois. Memorials are suggested to be made to Shearer Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling the arrangements.
