Bobette (Wasilewski) VanAlstine

Bobette VanAlstine, age 65 of Florence, IL passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born April 28, 1960, in Springfield, IL to Robert and Wilda Dirks Wasilewski. Bobette welcomed daughter, Adelynne in her first marriage; she later married Alex VanAlstine and he preceded her in death.

Bobette graduated from Athens High School and later attended culinary school. She attended United Methodist Church in Hull and Florence. Bobette enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her garden and was well known for having a green thumb. She also took delight in crocheting, raising chickens, and fishing…she especially enjoyed time spent on the river. She cherished time spent with her daughter and grandson and always liked helping people. Bobette will be remembered as a strong, compassionate woman who was fun-loving and spunky!

Bobette is survived by daughter, Adelynne Jones; grandson, Kohen Jones and another on the way; and devoted fur baby, Betsy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wilda Wasilewski; husband, Alex VanAlstine; and siblings, Keith Wasilewski, Randy Wasilewski, and Angie Long.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
