Betty Jo Daniels, age 86 of Griggsville, IL passed away Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on May 22, 1938, in White House, TN to Ruben and Josephine (Marley) Sanders. She married Henry J. Daniels, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1993.
Betty grew up between Tennessee and Chicago, IL. Eventually moving to Pike County to be closer to family. She attended Cosmetology School in Joliet, IL. Betty worked at the Garment Factory for a time, before becoming a full-time housewife and stay at home mom. She was the rock of the family and was always there for each and every one. She was a great cook and enjoyed family get togethers. Her house was the hub where the family always gathered. Betty was a meticulous house cleaner, and also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, watching old movies and had several favorite shows she always watched. In her later years when unable to live alone, her grandson Justin stepped up and became a great caregiver. Betty was a strong, loving woman that could be a bit feisty and taught her family many life lessons, that they will continue to pass on for generations. She will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her children, Linda F. Becker of Ft. Myers, FL, Tony R. (Patty) Daniels of Pittsfield, IL, James C. Daniels of Pittsfield, IL, Anne Lister of Griggsville, IL and Kimberly (Jim) Heatherly of Pleasant Hill, IL; daughter-in-law, Sandy Daniels; twenty grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Daniels; two sons, Robert ‘Bob’ Daniels and John Edward Daniels; one sister, Babra Sanders; daughter-in-law, Deborah Daniels; two sons-in-law, Dan Lister and Tom ‘Tucker’ Becker; and her longtime friend and companion Frank Brandenberg.
Per Betty’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.
