Betty Marie Coultas, age 75, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield. She was born on January 29, 1946, in Pittsfield, IL to Howard and Vivian Dyer Syrcle. She married Robert Coultas on August 10, 1968, in Pittsfield and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2003.
She graduated from Griggsville High School and worked various jobs before marrying Bob. Betty and Bob moved to the Peoria area where she worked at a dry cleaner as a presser. After returning to Pike County, she worked at Dainty Dress Shop. Betty spent time volunteering at Illini Community Hospital, as well as her church. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed working not only for her church but also for God. She was very active in her church, serving as a greeter, office help and active member of the prayer chain and volunteering anywhere she felt there was a need. Betty enjoyed babysitting, reading and studying her bible, and spending time with her poodles, all named Susie. She was a loving, kind, considerate and Godly woman who will be deeply missed.
Betty is survived by brother, Ralph (Joyce) Syrcle of Cowden, IL; sisters, Joann Bree of Pekin, IL and Margaret McDaniel of Griggsville, IL; nieces and nephews, David (Crystal) Syrcle, Sr. of Griggsville, IL, Bobby Syrcle of Griggsville, IL, Tammy (Lafayette) Scoggins of Griggsville, IL, Donna Ballinger of Griggsville, IL, Debbie Bumba of Bloomington, IL, Terri (Jamie) Peplow of Metamora, IL, Jim (Karol) Baird of Mason City, IL, Robin McDaniel of Griggsville, IL and Andrew (Paula Blaine) Syrcle of Cowden, IL; and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Vivian Syrcle; husband, Robert Coultas; brother, Allen Syrcle; brothers in law, Bob McDaniel and Bob Bree; and nephew, John Baird.
Cremation rites have been accorded and committal of ashes will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pittsfield Assembly of God. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
