Betty L. Browning

Betty L. Browning, age 74, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at her home.  She was born on June 18, 1948, in Pittsfield, IL to Homer ‘Buck’ and Bernice Klitz Browning.

Betty grew up in New Hartford and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1967.  She went to school to become a hairdresser and owned a salon in Pittsfield for many years.  She later worked as the activity director at Liberty Village for several years.  Betty attended New Hartford Christian Church growing up and was baptized there in 1958.  She became a member of Detroit Christian Church in 1996 where she served as a song leader in past years and worked as the church secretary.  Betty loved playing in pool leagues as well as bowling and playing Bingo.  She also greatly enjoyed music and dancing.  Betty was a witty, kind and loving woman who always had a smile on her face.  She was a jolly person who was fun to be around and she had a big heart.

She is survived by aunt, Loretta Collard; and numerous cousins and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Bernice Browning; and brother, Bob Browning.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Detroit Christian Church.  Per Betty’s request, cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be held privately at a later date at Pittsfield West Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
