Annabelle Faye Rhoads, age 104 formerly of Barry, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Illinois. She was born January 3, 1921 in Ewing Missouri, to Frederick and Anna Lena Mueller Hohner. She married Lee J. Rhoads on March 16, 1945 and he preceded her in death.
Annabelle loved the fellowship of family and friends, always enjoying many laughs and good food. She liked yard work and gardening, also quilting with the church group. Annabelle was a spitfire, very energetic, and really liked driving fast. She was very independent, living on her own until 103 years of age. Her faith in God sustained her through the hills and valleys of life. For many years she had a small wallpaper and painting business. She started with her sister-in-law, Mildred, then continued on her own. As a homemaker, she spent many hours cooking and canning the produce from Lee’s large garden. In general, keeping her family well cared for. She started the first newsletter for the church, learning to use a computer on her own. Annabelle loved to sing and hum hymns. She was member of the House of Prayer in Kinderhook, Illinois.
She is survived by her sons, Dave (Pat) Rhoads of Plano, Texas, and Robert (Sharon) Rhoads of Kinderhook, Illinois; daughter, Linda (Mike) Henderson of Springfield, Illinois; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathy Fanning of Fowler, Illinois.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee; two daughter-in-laws, Susan Rhoads and Reba Rhoads; two grandchildren, Neali Clendenny and Rob Henderson; three brothers, Bill, Paul and Hal; and four sisters, Edna, Matilda, Bertha and Alice.
Services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, Illinois. Interment will be at Parklawn Cemetery in Barry, Illinois, following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be made to House of Prayer. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
