Ann Sisson Obituary

Ann Sisson, age 90, of Pittsfield, IL formally of Petersburg, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at her home.  She was born on June 6, 1932 in Union, New Jersey to Dewey and Rose Marzano Hawes.  She married Esley Sisson, Jr. on July 7, 1956 in Petersburg, Indiana at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2003.

 

After high school, Ann attended cosmetology school and for a time worked as a hairdresser.  She later became a CNA and this was her calling.  She was a caring and giving woman whose faith was stronger than strong.  Ann was a faithful member of Pittsfield Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.  She  was a past president of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, where she shared her faith and made many beautiful friendships throughout her life.  She also taught PSR for 20 years and sang in the church choir.  She was also honored to be selected to be a DCCW Woman of Distinction.  Ann was proud of her family and their accomplishments.  She was a great storyteller and always had a joke to share with her family and many friends.  She loved to play bridge and was a part of several card clubs.  Ann was a past president of the Perry American Legion and past president of the Chautauqua Reading Circle and the Home Extension.   

 

She is survived by three children, David Sisson of Perry, IL, Mary (Mike) Glandon of Auburn, IL, and Cynthia (Don) Owens of Jacksonville, IL; six grandchildren, Noren Livingston, Cortney (Ben Roth) Trencevski, Jacob (Casey) Glandon, Caitlin (Ryan) Graham, Jeremy (Lindsey Moore) Glandon, and Virginia Livingston; and six great grandchildren, Hannah and Maelee Glandon, Christian, Abby, Bannon, and Delhia Livingston and Xander Woolridge.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Esley Sisson, Jr.; parents, Dewey and Rose Hawes; and siblings, John Hawes, Kay Amico, and Mae Minniear.

 

Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsfield.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 with a prayer service beginning at 9:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Memorials are suggested to be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Alter Society or St. Mary’s Catholic Church Bell Tower Fund.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
