Amy Beth McDonald, age 47, of Barry, IL, passed away January 22, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on October 10, 1976, to Dennis K. and Sharon (Hassett) Lowe in Pittsfield, IL. Amy first married Daniel Scott Mason and to this union, three children were born. She later married Mark McDonald on July 17, 2009, in Pittsfield, IL, to this union two children were born, and he survives.
Amy grew up in Pittsfield and attended Pittsfield schools. She started her family and was a stay at home mom and homemaker. She later went into the food service industry and worked at many area restaurants and nursing homes. Recently Amy worked as a packaging operator at Ascend in Barry, IL.
Amy found enjoyment in helping people, she would not only give them the shirt off her back, she gave the heart from her chest to someone in need through her organ donations. She loved shopping, especially for shoes and antiques. She also enjoyed camping and reading, but her favorite times were Friday night bingo and Saturday night card games in the garage with her family around her. She was ornery, caring, loyal to family and friends, and a hard worker.
She is survived by; her father, Dennis Lowe; her loving husband, Mark; children, Austin Mason of Jacksonville, IL, Courtney Mason Deitzman (Thomas Jordan) of Barry, IL, Dustin (Shaylon) Mason of Barry, IL, Mark McDonald Jr of Barry, IL, and Tyler McDonald of Barry, IL; grandchildren, Brysenn Deitzman and Lainey Mae Mason; and brother, Jamie Todd Lowe of Aurora, CO; three brothers in law, Jimmy (Morgan) McDonald, Robert (Terry) Smith, and Doug (Angie) McDonald; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.
She was preceded in death by; her mother, Sharon; her first husband, Daniel Scott Mason; granddaughter, Kayce; a granddaughter in infancy; and mother and father-in-law, John and Eva Marie (Cawthon) McDonald.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsfield, IL following the service. Memorials are suggested to the family, c/o Niebur Funeral Chapel.
