A. Steve McDonald Obituary

Albert ‘Steve’ McDonald, age 66, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Steve was born on November 11, 1955 in Louisiana, MO to Albert Calvin and Barbara S. Wheeler McDonald.

 

He attended East Pike School and joined the United States Army when 17, serving his country from 1972 – 1977. Steve was trained as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, as a Calvary Scout and spent time in Korea from 1975 – 1976. After his honorable discharge, he rejoined the Army serving from 1980 – 1982. Steve returned to Pittsfield and began his career as a truckdriver; driving for Phil Bauer hauling grain, Warner Enterprises and Sisbro. He enjoyed reading and caring for his pets, which he called his “livestock”.

 

Steve is survived by three sons, Michael Olinger of Nashville, TN, Shane McDonald of Bradenton, FL and Micah McDonald of Bradenton, FL; one daughter, Stacy McDonald of Pittsfield, IL; two stepdaughters, Shelly Tweedy of Bluffs, IL and Sherry Spencer of Pittsfield, IL; two step grandchildren, Keely Shay Spencer and Kyler Jo Spencer of Bluffs, IL; and two brothers, Jesse McDonald of Pittsfield, IL and Randy McDonald of Bradenton, FL.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Gregory; father, Albert McDonald; and step mother, Pauline Knowlson.

 

Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held at Pittsfield West Cemetery on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
