Dear Linda and family I’m sorry for the loss of Jack. He was a great man and person that I truly loved and admired since the first time I met him while working for Kirk Structures and then out on your farm as his welding shop foreman. Working for Jack and your family was the most enjoyable work I ever had in my life. Jack will be missed by not only the people of this community but also by every person who had the honor and privilege of meeting him. Once again I’m sorry for your loss.

My family has been friends with the Kirks going back 2 generations before mine, but more than all that, I remember Jack as my youth leader at church.  Of course, he taught us scripture and life lessons, but the most memorable teaching wasn’t anything he said.  It was what he did.  I remember being on youth group trips on more than one occasion where he paid for the lunch of the irresponsible kid who had blown all his cash on the arcade.  He couldn’t bear the thought of someone going hungry.  He had a passion for helping teenagers even to the point of inviting them to live in his home for a while, even when his own family might have been financially strapped.  He was a compassionate man who practiced what he preached and put other’s needs ahead of his own.

He was also very funny and had a magnetic personality.  He could draw a crowd with his stories and jokes.  I have no doubt that he was welcomed in heaven by Grandpa Joe saying “Well say you know….what took you so long?”  I can picture him now in heaven surrounded by friends and family asking to hear the “Diesel Fitter” joke again.  Heaven has gained a stand-up comedian and a godly man.  He will be greatly missed by so many here on earth.

Linda, Jarrod, Jill, Rachel and all:  We love you and will be praying for you all.

Linda, I am so sorry to learn of Jack's passing.  I worked with Jack as well as you, for many years during my time at Nooyen Mfg. in Mt. Sterling, KY.  I no longer work there.  It was always, always, a pleasure to work with Jack on the many projects he worked on.  Jack was truly one of my favorite people.  Straight shooter and you could take every word he said to the bank.  Great guy!  I will lift you up in prayer for comfort and peace, in the coming days.  God Bless you Linda.

Jack had the biggest and most authentic smiles.  While he had his share of worries and hardships, you always knew his complete faith and trust was in God.  His face reminds me of the hope we should all reflect, that we all have in Jesus.  I love his adventurous, bold spirit.  What a gift and blessing he was.  I imagine he is loving the beauty of heaven and exploring its mountains from  a saddle of a fabulous horse.

So very sorry for you, Linda, and the entire Kirk/Hammitt family on Jack’s passing.  We only had the pleasure of being in Jack’s company a limited number of times, but his storytelling and positive outlook on life were truly enjoyable memories.  Reading his obituary reflected what a caring & instrumental man he was in the lives of so very many.....solid evidence of a life well-lived, but much too short.  I know Kody, Amy, Emery & Jere are hurting now too along with all who knew & loved him.  Our sincere condolences to your wonderful family.
