Daniel J. Zenner, Sr., age 70, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on August 3, 1951 in Fond du Lac, WI to Robert and Janet Bastien Zenner.  He married Sharon ‘Shari’ Angel on April 17, 1971 in Newbern, IL, and she survives.

Dan graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, WI then began his working career.  He moved to Godfrey to work for his uncle at Widman Construction then he met the love of his life, Shari, and they got married and resided in Delhi, IL.  Dan and Shari relocated to Pittsfield in 1986 and he began working as head mechanic for WW Sanitation which later became Area Disposal, retiring in 2017.  He was a member of the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene and recently began attending a bible study.  He also recently became a member of the Lion’s Club.  Dan could fix anything and there wasn’t many things he couldn’t do.  He liked Nascar and surfing the web, especially YouTube, which he discovered after retirement.  He also loved airplanes and always wanted to obtain his pilot’s license and enjoyed attending the EAA airshows in Oshkosh, WI.  In 1982, he and Shari attended the World’s Fair in Knoxville, TN which spiked his interest in travelling all over the United States, and South Dakota became one of his favorite adventures.  Dan was an avid joke teller and he will be remembered as caring, stubborn, strong willed, and a good Christian man.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shari Zenner; son, Daniel Joseph (Donelle) Zenner, Jr. of Pittsfield, IL; three grandchildren, Samantha (Jeffrey) Cookey of Pittsfield, IL, Blaklyn (Jacob Benz) Zenner of Quincy, IL, and Daniel ‘Trey’ (Josie Place) Zenner III of Pittsfield, IL; two great grandchildren, Hudsyn Kelly and Maddox Cookey; brothers, Mike (Patty) Zenner of Potter, WI, Eugene (Susan) Zenner of Fond du Lac, WI, Brian (Bridgette) Zenner of Fond du Lac, WI, and Ron (Corrie) Zenner of Oconomowoc, WI; sisters, Angela (Rick) Kiefer, Lenore (Tony) Schumacher, and Terese Mitchell, all of Fond du Lac, WI; brother-in-law, Steven (Kelli) Angel of Carrollton, IL; extended family, Kathy (Scott) Osment of Pittsfield, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sheila Zenner; brothers, John Zenner and Robert ‘Skipper’ Zenner; and brother-in-law, Tom Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

I worked with Danny for several years and always looked at him like he was another one of my Grandfathers. He was a man of a lot of knowledge and taught me many things working along side him. His jokes and smile helped make a tough day an enjoyable one. You will be greatly missed my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Sherri, Bill and I were so surprised and saddened by this news. He will be remembered and loved by us and many more. If there is anything this old man and woman can do for you just let us know. For now just enjoy all the great memories that 50 years together will bring you. God gave you those memories for strength. Love you.

Shari, my condolences of loosing your best friend and husband. I have so many fond memories of how Dan always had a smile and made me laugh. He had a great personality and kindness about him. A good hard working man. Always admired the two of you of your closeness and dedication of one another. God has taken a good man and you were blessed to have him in your life. RIP Dan.
