Rebecca Ann Irwin, age 65, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on October 30, 1955 in Pittsfield, IL to Lyndle and Maurine McCann Boren. Becky married Burdette Irwin on January 12, 1980 at her parent’s home and he survives.

Becky was a 1973 graduate of East Pike High School and went to work at Illini Community Hospital in the medical records department. She later worked for King Feed Mill and Hooper Insurance doing clerical work and then ran a daycare from her home. Becky became a deputy clerk working in the Pike County Clerks office for over 30 years until her retirement in July 2020. She was a member of the First Christian Church for over 40 years and was a dedicated pianist and organist for the Vesper Choir and accompanied the choir every year for the Cantata. Her musical talent and generous spirit will be deeply missed by her church family and our community. Becky always loved traveling and in early years she enjoyed camping with her family. She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and was a loving and devoted daughter, spending time caring for her mother in her later years. She loved and appreciated spending time at family dinners, especially loved fried fish and was happy to provide her famous scalloped potatoes and homemade cinnamon rolls to accompany the meal. Becky enjoyed shopping, especially holiday shopping and was known for being impeccably dressed and put together.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Burdette Irwin; three sons, Ryan (Cara) Irwin of Springfield, IL, Travis (Jeff) Irwin of Spokane, WA and Bill (Rhonda) Irwin of Pittsfield, IL; one daughter, Betty (Steve) Hayden of Pittsfield, IL; four grandchildren, Clinton (Morgan Deeder) Hayden of Pittsfield, IL,  Mariah Irwin of Springfield, IL, Jacob Irwin of Springfield, IL and Makenna Irwin of Springfield, IL; one great grandchild, Elijah Hayden of Pittsfield, IL; brother, Gale (Janet) Boren of Pittsfield, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved Maltese fur baby, Bella.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyndle and Maurine Boren; brother in infancy, Lyndle Gary Boren; and in laws, John and Darlene Irwin.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 12:00 PM at First Christian Church in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church. The passing of Becky is such a shock to me. I’ve only know Becky and Burdett for a short time. In this short time these two gave me the warm feeling of much kindness & always welcomed me into their home. They contacted me about a puppy and by just talking to them on the phone, I knew that “Bella” would have the best of everything and so loved. They were so excited to begin the adventure with Bella…. Bella will now comfort Burdett . I’m so sorry!!! Hugs and prayers sent your way.
