Truman M. Huffman, age 86, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on September 4, 2021 at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL, surrounded by family. He was born on October 27, 1934 in Kinderhook, IL to Wilby and Mildred Churchill Huffman.  He married Betty Ruble on November 29, 1963 in Pittsfield, IL and she preceded him in death on August 6, 1992.

Truman grew up in Pike County and went on to serve his country in the Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. After an honorable discharge, he returned home and worked various jobs until he took over managing  the Texaco Service Station for D.B. Gray.  Truman ran the station for 17 years retiring in 1977.  In Truman’s younger years, he loved to go rabbit hunting with Berry and Bruce. It would always put a smile on his face when he could hear Berry’s beagle dogs.  He also enjoyed working on cars and lawn mowers and loved to vegetable garden, which he was very good at.  Truman enjoyed vacationing with Betty, Leland, and Pearl, especially their trips to Colorado and Branson.  He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and always listened to their games on the radio.  Truman dearly loved his family and his church.  He was a member of the Pittsfield Church of Christ, where he attended regularly. His faith was very important to him and he was faithful to his church.  Most people did not know that Truman was blind.  His blindness was not a handicap, because he could see with his heart.
