Mrs. Norma R. Rennecker, aged 89, of Barry, IL passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL surrounded by family. She was born on August 10, 1932 to Edgar and Edith Thien Chandler in Quincy, IL. She married Albert “Floyd” Rennecker on June 2, 1951 in Pocahontas, AR, recently celebrating 70 years of marriage, and he survives.

Norma graduated from Quincy High School in 1950, and went on to work at Motorola. After she and Floyd married, she stayed home and they began their family. Together, they started Rennecker Equipment in 1972 as well as Pike County Chrysler, where she was the business manager and bookkeeper.

Norma enjoyed upholstering furniture, sewing, and going to the river cabin at Cincinnati Landing since 1955. She was famously known for her chocolate chip cookies in her blue bowl for her grandchildren. She was also a great cake decorator and made many cakes for weddings and birthdays. Norma loved a good game of Chinese Checkers or Cooties, and making biscuits and gravy on Sunday mornings with her family. That was her medicine. Norma was an avid Case toy tractor collector. She was active over the years serving as a Boy Scout Leader, Brownie Leader, and 4H Leader, as well as Home Extension. She was on the founding committee of the Barry Apple Festival and did the Sunday chicken dinners for over 23 years along with the Sour Apple Contest.  Norma was big hearted, determined, kind, and caring. She was always happy, never knew a stranger, and took great pride in herself. Family was everything to her and she welcomed newcomers with open arms.

She was survived by the love of her life, A. Floyd Rennecker of Barry, IL; children, Steve (Becky) Rennecker, Kevin (Debbie) Rennecker, Denise (Mark) Ehrhardt, and Donna (Terry) Beard, all of Barry, IL.; daughter-in-law, Brenda Rennecker of Barry, IL; grandchildren, Chad (Lindsey) Rennecker, Shawn (Stefanie) Rennecker, Alicia Rennecker, Brad (Michelle) Rennecker, Lisa (Brett) Bennett, Brian (Shannon) Rennecker, Adam (Michelle) Rennecker, Stephanie (Nathan) Brown, Stacy (Tyler) Patterson, Emily (Reid) Pulliam, Evan Ehrhardt, TayLeigh (Johnny) Megehe, Keaton (Taylor) Baker, Brooklyn (Corbin) Riffey, Ellison Beard, and Emily Beard; thirty-one great grandchildren; special extended family member, Gary ‘Whiti’ Cawthon of Barry, IL; brother in law, Herbert (Doris) Rennecker of Kinderhook, IL., and sisters-in-law, Janet Rennecker of Quincy, IL, and Caroline Rennecker of New Salem, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Edith Chandler; son, Gary Rennecker; brother, Edgar Chandler; sisters, Phyllis Huber, and Betty Maas; sister-in-law, Ginny; and brother-in-law, Delbert.

Dear Uncle Floyd and family, we wish to extend our deepest condolences . I remember Aunt Norma like a second mother when I used to go visit for the summer, and help in the shop.
In this day and age it's nice to remember Aunt Norma and her pet raccoon, going to the Pike County Fair, and flipping coins to see who bought soda pop at the shop.
I also remembered our many visits when you came to Colorado. She will be greatly missed.
Love, Doug Chandler and Family
