Troy M. Sapp, age 57, of Iowa City, IA and formerly of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. He was born on November 23, 1963 in Pittsfield, IL to JM and Linnie Kendall Sapp.

Troy was a 1982 graduate of Pittsfield High School and went on to attend Illinois Wesleyan University where he studied Piano Performance and graduated in 1986. He was a versatile musician and vocalist and spent much of his time in school performing with the band and enjoyed showcasing his talents in the theater. Troy was an accomplished pianist and could make the notes he played come to life with grace and beauty.

He is survived by his brother, Vincent Sapp of O’Fallon, MO; nephew Nicholas Sapp of O’Fallon, MO, niece Lucinda Sapp of O’Fallon, MO; aunts, Elizabeth Flaherty of Louisiana, MO and Patsy Otwell of Waterloo, IL; cousins, Reed and Ryan Flaherty of Columbia, MO, Kevin and Terry Leahr of Pittsfield, IL, Steve and Craig Jarvil of Pekin, IL, Carol (Otwell) Basler of Columbia, IL, and Randy Otwell of Waterloo, IL. He is also survived by many loving and close friends he grew up with and met over the years while traveling.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, JM and Linnie Sapp; aunts, Harriet Ham, Mabel Knight, Dixie Degerlia, Betty Leahr, and George Ann Jarvil; uncles, James Flaherty, Carl Leahr, George Kendall, Charles Jarvil; and cousin Mark Leahr.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield from 5 PM to 7 PM.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Pittsfield High School Music Department. Online condolences may be left to the family at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.

I was so sorry to hear about Troy. He was my (Lisa's) Swing Choir partner during his freshman year at PHS. He was talented, kind, and fun to work with. You and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers.
