Etta Loretta Sargent, age 86, of Griggsville and Pittsfield, IL passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Spring, TX.  She was born on December 22, 1934 in Griggsville, IL to Earl and Rada Anders Shelton, Sr.  She married Kenneth Sargent, and he survives.

Etta graduated from Griggsville High School.  She worked for Walmart for many years in Pittsfield and also Louisiana, MO, from where she retired.  She enjoyed reading, travelling, and fishing and camping.  She was a really good cook and her specialty was goulash.  Etta especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  Etta was of the Christian faith and was a very loving, caring, and thoughtful woman.  She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Sargent; son, Craig (Kim) Thompson of Pacific, MO; two daughters, Brenda Kramer of Pittsfield, IL and Julie (Michael) Benad of Spring, TX; stepsons, Michael (Paula) Sargent of Pittsfield, Curt (Carrie) Sargent of Fisher, LA, and Jason (Arlene) Sargent of Griggsville, IL; three grandchildren, James (Mariah) Gebhard of Pashastin, WA, Ryan Doza of Canton, IL, and Kirby (Wade) Hassler of Pacific, MO and five step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Rada Shelton, Sr; grandson, Kristopher Thompson; brothers, Earl Shelton, Jr., Leroy Shelton, Homer Shelton, and Richard Shelton; sisters, Eileen Rumple and Louise Shelton in infancy; son-in-law, John Kramer; and nephew, Glenual ‘Cork’ Shelton.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and cremation rites have been accorded.  Online condolences may be left to the family at
