Ruth Ann Motley, age 75, of Barry, IL passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  She was born on September 19, 1945 in Hannibal, MO to Jesse and Evalena Seba Tittsworth.  She married Jerry Motley on July 19, 1964 at El Dara United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2020.

Ruth Ann graduated from West Pike High School in 1964.  After high school, she got married and began a family.  She was a very talented oil painter, winning many special awards including blue and red ribbons.  She was a 50-year member of the El Dara United Methodist Church where she was a Secretary in the Women’s Society for many years, a 10-year member of the Atlas Family Worship Center, and a recent member at the House of Prayer.  Ruth Ann played piano for all three churches.  She loved going to auctions, flea markets, and yard sales to look for antiques or anything that caught her eye, as well as glassware which she collected.  Ruth Ann was a simple and wholesome woman who was down to earth and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren.  She had a good Christian heart and always wanted to help others.

She is survived by her son, David Lee (Kim) Motley of Barry, IL; her daughter, Mary Elaine (Alan) Nigg of Springfield, MI; four grandchildren, Ryan Motley of Carbondale, IL, Rachel Motley of Barry, IL, Jacob Nigg of Grand Rapids, MI, and Morgan Nigg of Springfield, MI; brother, Wayne (Ella) Tittsworth of Pittsfield, IL; brother-in-law, Stanley (Betty) Motley of Wildwood, MO nieces, Amy (Mike) Briley of Overland Park, KS, Nancy (Brad) Sobotka of Wildwood, MO, and Lisa Gard of Columbia, MO; and nephew, Mark (Betsy) Tittsworth of New Berlin, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Evalena Tittsworth; husband, Jerry Motley; great grandchild in infancy; brother, Fred Evon Tittsworth; and nephews, Michael Anthony Tittsworth and Steven Motley.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry.  Interment will follow at Taylor Martin Cemetery near El Dara.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

I just learned of Ruth Ann’s passing- I am sorry for your loss.our mothers were friends and enjoyed collecting antique glass wear and many other things. Many times they swapped items and they had a lot of fun together. I pray God comforts you during this difficult time - God bless!
