I spent many years on the IGGVA Board with Gene and we always got along grandly at any grape-grower / wine-maker function. He was reserved, respectful and had the kindest soul. My condolences to the family, he was truly a good man and will be missed

For all of Gene's family, I would like to express my sincere condolences at the loss of this kind and good man. I met Gene in the late 90's when we both were beginning our journey into the grape and wine business in a state where corn and soybeans were king. He learned what it took to be successful and worked hard to accomplish it. He was a good business partner when I purchased grapes from him and a good friend to me. I always appreciated his down to earth approach to life and I will miss him. You can all be proud of the man that he was.
I can see him tending his vineyards in heaven. But in Heaven there will be no insects or pests or storms to ruin any of it. God Bless him.

Eugene and I were classmates at Kelly High School. At one of our class reunions, he brought some of his good wine for us to sample. May he Rest In Peace and God bless his entire family.

Man oh man...this was such a surprise to learn. I have but a few people I can say “ I admire” and Gene was among that short list. Thought several times about stopping in as I passed by your exit on 72....to see what Gene called “ the flavor of the week “ was .....but never enough time is there?
Well he won’t be replaced. And he will certainly be missed by all that had the opportunity to meet him. My condolences to you all.
