Helen Nadine Hurt, age 93, of Barry, IL passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  She was born on May 14, 1927 to Leon and Jessie Smith Bogan in Hadley Township.  She married Hugh A. Hurt on December 26, 1960 at the Barry Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2008.

Nadine worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Pittsfield until she married Hugh.  She loved gardening and canning and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.  She enjoyed baking pies and her specialties were Zucchini pie and Pecan pie.  She loved her family very much and getting together with everyone.  She was a strong and cordial woman who was also thoughtful, caring, and loving.

She is survived by two children, Lori Hurt of Pittsfield, IL and Randall (Jeane) Hurt of Barry, IL; two grandchildren, Kayloni (Eric) Obert of Liberty, IL and Alex (Megan) Hurt, of New London, MO; five great grandchildren, Elijah, Raelee, Lyla, Casen, and Corie; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Yorkie, Brandi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh A. Hurt; parents; three brothers, Meredith, Lyndell and Bobby Bogan; two sisters, Gretta (Bogan) Shimmin and Grace (Bogan) Harlow; one niece, Carol (Bogan) Phieffer; and nephew, Christopher Bogan.

All services will be held privately and interment will be at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Kepley House.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

What a wonderful person Nadine was, she was so very thoughtful, if she saw you , you were sure to get a big hello...Bogie and family , hugs and prayers ..she will be missed for sure...

What a wonderful lady and contributor to the community. I got to know Nadine through the Alumni Association and with her involvement with Hugh and the Lions Club. I’ll remember Nadine for her helpfulness and kind words for others. My condolences to her family.

My deepest sympathy to Randy & all of Nadine's family.

There are so many sweet memories of her over the years since I was a little girl.
I am so grateful Jane & I had one more special time with Nadine last March for lunch
My heart is sad for all of you. What a gift we had, knowing Nadine & being with her.

Nadine was a wonderful, sweet lady. I was one of Lorie's teachers at Higbee and we kept in touch over the years. My sympathy to you all. I know she will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Nadine's passing. You have our heartfelt sympathy and continued prayers! Aunt Marilyn was talking a few weeks ago and something in our conversation made her think about telling me this story again.
Her and Nadine, cousins and very good friends as well, decided to go on an adventure by train to a Dude Ranch in Colorado when they were young. She just laughed when she said they had so much fun but she never shares what was so much fun, whether it was riding the horses or the cowboys!
All of the family have wonderful memories of Nadine, wonderful caring person.
