Robert O. Daniels, age 95, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his daughter’s home surrounded by family.  He was born on August 22, 1925 in Florence, IL to Emmer and Mary Katherine Splain Daniels.  He married Rosa Mae Pennock on September 8, 1945 in Pittsfield, IL and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2012.

Robert attended Tollgate School through the 8th grade and then Griggsville High School.  He went on to work and help his family at the sawmill then worked for Ellis’ grocery warehouse in Pittsfield as well as Pine Lakes on the weekends.  Robert began doing road maintenance for the Pittsfield Township and Pike County Highway, retiring after 42 years and then helped his wife with their daycare for 30 years.  He was a current member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield and a past member of the First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.  Robert enjoyed fishing and mushroom, squirrel, and coon hunting, as well as gardening.  He found peace in watching the eagles and enjoyed driving to the river to park and watch them.  He also had a vast collection of eagle figurines and pictures.  He was quite the handyman and liked watching wrestling.  He was a family man and his greatest joys were spending time with his family and Sunday family dinners after church.  Robert had a quietness about him and was a no fuss kind of guy.  He was God fearing, kind, and had an incredible strength despite the trials and tribulations life handed to him.

He is survived by two sons, Bruce (Judi) Daniels of Brownsburg, IN and Kent (Kim) Daniels of Virginia, IL; five daughters, Sue Willard of Pittsfield, IL, Kathryn Kindle of Pittsfield, IL, Lisa (Tim) Krumwiede of Pittsfield, IL, Mary Beth (George) Stearns of New Salem, IL,  and Cynthia Jo (Phillip) Hoover of Pittsfield, IL; foster daughter, Judy Davis Bright of Virginia, IL; daughter-in-law, Mary (Don) Godwin of Des Moines, IA; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren with three on the way; ten great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosa Mae Daniels; son, David L. Daniels; grandson, Doug Kindle; sons-in-law, Donald Willard and Richard Kindle; brother, Theodore Daniels; and sisters, Mildred Meskimen, Juanita Ruble, and Genevieve Seyle.

SPATHIPHYLLUM was sent by Nicholas Hopper.

To whoever reads this message... I will always remember the weekend gatherings, sweaty football games in the back yard, basketball games on the black top across the street, the house full of people on the holidays, and of course... the occasional Wrestle mania matches on T.V. These memories of Grandpa, Grandma, and everyone else are fond to me. I wish everyone the best- Nicholas Hopper
