Sidney Leroy Collins, age 82, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL.  He was born on April 16, 1938 in Nebo, IL to Lyndle Birdie Collins and Beulah Mae Tysinger. He married Mary Ellen DeJaynes on January 27, 1961 in Barry, IL and they were married for almost 50 years.

Leroy worked for various people including Melvin Manker, Art Cookie, Winford Gleckler, and Mike Niebur.  He also did concrete work for over 7 years and worked for Gilbert Shaw for 25 years.  He went to Full Gospel Church in Pittsfield for over 25 years and recently was attending Calvary Gospel in Summer Hill.  Leroy enjoyed fishing and spent most of his time at the Pittsfield Lake.  He mowed yards and shoveled snow for several people in Griggsville and liked collecting cans alongside the road.  Leroy loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by two sons, David Wayne (Charlene) Collins of St. Charles, MO and Thomas Elroy (Jeanie) Collins of Foley, MO; four daughters, Marcia Lynn (Jim) Walker of Griggsville, IL, Pamela R. (Ed) King of Griggsville, IL, Valerie (Tim) Harris of Roodhouse, IL, and Sara Schnellbecher of Griggsville, IL; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren with one on the way; two brothers, Johnny Bill Collins of Pittsfield, IL and Rodney Dean Collins of Pleasant Hill, IL; eleven sisters, Leona Mae Collins Gratton of Pittsfield, IL, Betty Bernice Collins of Pittsfield, IL, Vella Marie Collins Ruble of Jacksonville, IL, Dorothy Marie Collins Teaney of Pittsfield, IL, Erma Jean Collins Shipman of Pittsfield, IL, Martha Louise Collins of Pittsfield, IL, Janet Sidney Collins of Pittsfield, IL, Sandra Ellen Davidson of Alsey, IL, Evelyn R. Collins of Barry, IL, Tonna Long of Pittsfield, IL, and Janet Sue Stroud of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyndle Birdie Collins; mother, Beulaj Mae Tysinger; stepmother, Martha Ellen Collins; son, Lyndle James Collins; brother, Michael Collins; and two sisters, Barbara Kay Collins and Ruth Ann Evans.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Oakwood Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
