Maurine R. Boren, age 100, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Barry Community Care Center in Barry, IL.  She was born on November 17, 1919 in Hartford, IL to William and Bessie Rhodes McCann.  She married Lyndle Boren on September 17, 1937, and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1981.

Maurine graduated from Pearl High School.  After marrying Lyndle, she became a farmwife and stay at home mother raising their children.  In 1965, she went to work as the Secretary at East Pike High School and later worked at the Pike County Clerk’s Office, where she retired from.  In earlier years, Maurine was a member of Greenpond Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and led the congregational singing, and was a current member of Pittsfield First Christian Church.  She had a beautiful voice and was honored to share her gift when she was asked to sing at weddings and funerals, and was also active in various community activities throughout her lifetime.  Maurine was an especially caring and loving woman, and was a caretaker of friends and family.  Family meant so much to her and she was very proud of all of their accomplishments.

She is survived by her children Dennis Gale (Janet) Boren and Rebeca A. (Burdette) Irwin, both of Pittsfield, IL; six grandchildren, Danny (Jonette Guinty) Boren, Scott (Lori) Boren, Ryan (Cara) Irwin, Travis (Jeff Sobolewski) Irwin, Betty (Steve) Hayden, and Bill (Rhonda) Irwin; nine great grandchildren, Derek Boren, Alec Boren, Tyler Boren, Bryan Boren, Brittany Boren, Mariah Irwin, Jacob Irwin, Makenna Irwin, and Clint (Morgan) Hayden; one great great grandson, Elijah Hayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bessie McCann; husband, Lyndle Boren; son, Lyndle Gary Boren; and siblings, Basil McCann, Leonard McCann, Imogene Laux, Berdell McCann, William ‘Bill’ McCann, and Juanita Boren.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 12:30 PM at Greenpond Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Greenpond Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
