Wayne DeJaynes, age 77 of Milton, IL passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born December 26, 1942 in New Canton, IL to Hershal Woodrow and Goldie Mae Sisk DeJaynes. Wayne married Ruthanne Garrett on December 26, 1963 in Palmyra, MO and she survives.

Wayne spent his early life as a farmhand working first for Parks & Gress, then went on to work for Graham Farms, Hayden Farms and Jerry Daniel Farms. He was always a man of his word, was stubborn and outspoken but dearly loved his family. Wayne spent many days chopping wood with his sons, enjoyed grilling out with family on the weekends, playing cards with his family and especially loved to spend time with his grandkids. He was a champion horse shoe player, enjoyed playing pool, bowling, watching westerns, wrestling and drag races. Wayne always enjoyed spending mornings with his coffee buddies at Dink’s Diner.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruthanne; sons, John Wayne DeJaynes of Milton, IL, Kevin Eugene (Sarah) DeJaynes of Milton, IL, Tracy Lynn (Kris) DeJaynes of Fairmont, MN, Tony Scott DeJaynes of Quincy, IL; daughter, Kylie Dawn DeJaynes of Jacksonville, IL; grandchildren, Joshua, Crystal, Kourtney, Austin, Lacy, Bryar, Kevlynn, Michelle, Leaf, Reed, Sabbath, Samantha, Evelyn Rose Marie, Amber and Blaine; great grandchildren, Alexander, Lilly and Le’Vontae; brothers, Russell (Reva) DeJaynes of Pearl, IL, Marvin DeJaynes of Baylis, IL, Billy (Chris) DeJaynes of Baylis, IL; and sister, Caroline Rennecker of New Salem, IL.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Hershal and Goldie DeJaynes; sons, Anthony Ray DeJaynes and Brian ‘Bones’ DeJaynes; brother, David DeJaynes; brother in law, Delbert Rennecker; nephew, Mark DeJaynes and in laws, Farrington and Ella Garrett.

Per Wayne's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Special Athletes. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.

I grew up in Milton. Wayne was great friends with my dad, Clay. Kevin was in my graduating class.
