Lula M. Bradshaw, age 90, of Barry IL, passed away August 24,2020 at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL. She was born on February 27,1930 in New Salem, Il to Mert and Cora Franklin Sackett. She married William A. Bradshaw on August 7, 1950 in Springfield, Il and he preceded her in death on June 25, 2005.

Lula graduated from Barry High School then began waitressing at the local café. After marrying William, she raised their family.  She along with her sisters raised their nieces, Patty and Tempe, after the passing of their sister, Hattie. Lula also worked various jobs including Motorola, babysitting the Lister kids, worked as a cashier at K & E Grocery, which later became Stroemer’s, and as a housekeeper for Bernie Keller and Jody Gully. She eventually quit the workforce to raise her grandchildren, Heather and Brock. Lula enjoyed the outdoors- mushrooming, gardening, picking berries, and watching hummingbirds and bird feeding in her yard. She liked canning the produce she grew, baking cookies, and making Christmas candy to deliver to family, friends, and neighbors during the holidays. Lula liked to do puzzles and play Solitaire. Always active, she made Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner into her late 80’s and enjoyed getting together with those she loved.

She is survived by two sons, Wm. Michael Bradshaw and Vanice Bradshaw both of Barry, IL; five grandchildren, Heather (Doug) Barber of Des Moines, IA, Brock (Katrina) Bradshaw of El Dara, IL, Nathan Bradshaw of Barry, IL, Nicole (Sean) Fischer of Quincy, IL, and Shawn Bradshaw of Thomas Falls, TX; twelve great grandchildren;  sisters, Juanita Miller of Burlington, WI., Cora Watts of Nebo, IL., and Myrtle Tharp of Nebo, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mert and Cora Sackett; husband, William Bradshaw; Brothers, Willard Sackett, Willis Sackett, Lacey Sackett, and Russell Sackett; Sisters, Mary Borrowman, Hattie Taylor, and Annabelle Radefeld; and her dear friend, Pat Ward.
